My Story

Daniela Mainenti is Professor of Comparative Criminal Procedure. She also serves as lecturer and scientific advisor in interdisciplinary programs on law, innovation and health governance.

She is President of Research Unit One (RUO), an independent European research center dedicated to comparative law, criminal justice, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital evidence and the governance of confiscated assets.

With more than twenty years of academic, research and executive education experience in Italy and abroad, Professor Mainenti has held teaching, training and advisory roles for universities, public institutions and international organizations. She is a Professional Fellow in London and serves on national and international scientific boards, including CSAIA and the International School on Artificial Intelligence, Technology and Law at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice.

Her research focuses on comparative criminal justice systems, criminal procedure, confiscated assets, corporate liability, anti-corruption policies, organized crime and the legal implications of emerging technologies. Particular attention is devoted to artificial intelligence governance, cybersecurity, digital evidence, algorithmic accountability and the impact of technological innovation on judicial systems.

A distinctive area of her scholarship concerns environmental crime, fisheries crime, Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing, food fraud and the protection of marine resources, combining comparative legal analysis with issues of sustainability, enforcement and international governance.

Professor Mainenti is regularly invited as keynote speaker and expert contributor in academic, institutional and parliamentary forums in Italy and internationally, where she addresses the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, criminal justice transformation, cybersecurity governance, environmental crime and regulatory innovation.
